6b6t CRUSHES Server Performance With 1k Players, OG-Network Can Too

6b6t recently successfully upgraded to 1.19.2 with a 1,000 player limit, 16 render & sim distance, Bedrock compatibility, and retained vanilla mechanics with good server performance
OG-network can too

For those of you that don't know, the technology that has allowed this is multi-Paper, and 6b6t is most likely the very first large-scale server to prove this proof of concept, all while maintaining common plugin compatibility such as chat colors, /tpa, a Bedrock port (most likely Geyser), etc.

Known issues:
- Nether portals not working correctly
- PvP
- Slight decreased hostile mob spawns for performance
nothing extraordinary for upgrading to 1.19.2 and pioneering multi-Paper for large-scale servers

OG-network has no contingency plan for a sudden increase in player counts resulting in either extremely low-performance or a heavily nerfed server, either of which greatly upset players and drive them away from it ruining its reputation. For those of you that have logged on recently during this holiday break, you have most likely experienced this. The vast majority of active players could agree that the current and recent vanilla modifications are already bad enough as they are (mob freezing and x100 less hostile mob spawn rates at 20 TPS, I mean really?), and they're only going to get worst with the server's current development plans. There is a reason why there was zero functioning high-player count 1.19 servers until now. Single-core processing simply can't perform for large servers, the game was never designed for it, and nor can server optimization fix the problem. It would be foolish and naive to think otherwise. As Fancy says in his Will 2b2t Finally Update to 1.19? video, multi-Paper will and has "paved the way for the next generation of Minecraft servers."

I don't see a good future for this server with its current development plans. You're shooting yourself in the foot, stunting your own growth. The server's performance and community opinion on vanilla modifications are already at their limits. A change in development plans can and should be made soon to avoid an impending fiasco.

Consider removing non-vital server plugins to redirect funds to recode vital plugins for multi-Paper. Consider adding more income streams besides ranks (AdSense, Patreon, in-game promotions, etc.) and aggressively reinvesting profit because you have exceptional growth from YouTube promotions to back it. Consider getting help, input, and feedback from Minecraft communities that are currently utilizing multi-Paper. The point is that this server can really do so much more given its connections and unique stance of being a YouTuber-backed server, it just needs the right direction.

I understand that the admin team already has other development goals such as Factions and bringing in more YouTubers, but is the server really ready for that growth? Is optimizing the server for performance by breaking core vanilla mechanics really the right standard? Where did the term "OG" in "OG-network" go and where is it headed? Is this really what the community wants? Are OG-network's goals really still in line with, in the words of MisterEpic, "our goal of fostering a network full of OG game modes that are no longer around?"

my intent with this post is not a rant, but a concern for the server, its future, and its community

Multi-paper, as described by Flip himself, does not have much support for plugins, especially the custom plugins developed and used by the Network. If OG were to use MP, the devs would have to recode a lot of plugins and it's not worth the resources or effort seeing as the server only has 110 players during peak hours at the moment and is not projecting to grow that much in terms of peak. The major issue with TPS and performance are the ridiculously bad programming of the allays which power Vegas wheat farms, though thankfully are broken due to mob stacking, and the copious villager halls that are filled with dozen of also terribly optimized villagers, according to Fancy. While Multi-paper would be nice, it's not going to be implemented for a long time, if ever.
