Thanks, I have been traveling for a while and have gotten 15k blocks away from the end spawn. Shulker boxes are easy to get because of the many shulkers that are in each end city, but I have still never found an elytra. Do you know how far you have to travel in order to find one?

Nowhere is completely safe. No matter where you go, you will be found eventually. The best base is built far out, somewhere between 40k and 50k blocks away underground (preferably down to bedrock so x ray ppl can't see you unless they dig down). The server does not allow you to go past 51k...
