nick just makes their user in chat different where as disguise makes name over head in chat and the skin into someone else

As previously stated, the purpose of the rank is to allow content creators to play without being targeted, and give them other benefits. For example, those with the rank can promote their channels repeatedly without it being spam / self advertisement, and in the future they'll have access to /disguise (or similar).
